Clean Water Indiana Funding Input Sessions

The long session of the Indiana General Assembly produced a biennium budget for the State of Indiana. This budget, effective July 1, 2007, contains a $1 million increase in the Clean Water Indiana (CWI) fund for the next two years ($500,000 per year). If allocated appropriately, this increased funding for CWI is an opportunity to increase cooperative conservation in Indiana.

At the request of the Indiana Conservation Partners, the State Soil Conservation Board (SSCB) seeks input on the use of CWI funds. Five public input meetings will be held in the four quadrants of the state and in Indianapolis. Even though this is one of the busiest times of the year for Districts due to community investment in county fairs and 4-H activities, this is a critical opportunity for our Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Some people would say it is choice, not chance, that determines our destiny, so I am challenging SWCDs to choose action. We have a choice...to do some work in a very short period of time...preparing oral and written comments, making plans to attend one or more of the upcoming meetings, expressing our opinions on our CWI funds should be utilized. This is the opportunity to have your voice heard! Please take time to read these important documents below.
