State Conservation Association Seeks Call for Abstracts for 2009 Annual Conference

The Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (IASWCD) invites individuals and organizations to submit a Call for Abstracts for the association's 2009 Annual Conference The Power of Conservation: Building a Sustainable Future.

Abstracts pertaining to oral presentations, workshops and poster presentations are invited on topics related to four session tracks:

  1. Conservation Implementation,
  2. Watershed Management,
  3. Capacity Building, and
  4. Outreach and Education.

Oral presentations and workshops should focus on hands-on skill building, with consideration to a limited number of conceptual or policy oriented sessions. Abstracts should address suggested topics within one of the identified tracks. Suggested topics are listed online - click here.

Abstracts are due to the IASWCD by May 16, 2008, to Jennifer Boyle, executive director, and must be submitted by email to jennifer-boyle@iaswcd.org (use the subject line SWCD Abstract). Notification of acceptance will be made by July 1. The Abstract Submission Form is available on the IASWCD Web site at http://www.iaswcd.org/whatsnew/conference09.html.

"The 2009 Annual Conference for Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts will offer an excellent variety of sessions for SWCD staff and supervisors, watershed practitioners and Indiana conservation partnership and technical staff," said Jim Droege, IASWCD President.

"Over 300 conservationists attend our conference each year, so we hope to see excellent proposals from Districts, universities, conservation organizations/partnerships, businesses or nonprofits in the natural resources arena," Droege added.

The 2009 Annual Conference will be held January 12-14 at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis (downtown). For additional information on the conference, contact Jennifer Boyle, 317.692.7519, or visit the IASWCD Web site.
