Indiana Farm Conservation Awards to Be Presented to 65 Indiana Producers
Indianapolis – Sixty-five farmers from 40 Indiana counties will be honored on Farmers’ Day at the Indiana State Fair for their work to protect Indiana’s soil and water resources. The occasion is the 2008 River Friendly Farmer Awards ceremony on Wednesday, August 13.
These individual farmers were nominated locally for their outstanding conservation work by their county Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Their award applications highlighted personal stewardship goals and accomplishments and how their conservation plans incorporated best management practices into their operations to achieve those goals.

Since 1999, key conservation and agricultural organizations have sponsored the River Friendly Farmer (RFF) Program. The statewide initiative recognizes farmers who through good production management practices helps keep Indiana’s rivers, lakes and streams clean.
